He led a force of patriots that set the stage for the British defeat at Yorktown.   
Loved by his followers, respected by his enemies, 
he is one of the foremost heroes of our War for Independence.  
Known as the Swamp Fox for taking refuge in the forests and swamps,
he is considered one of the fathers of modern guerilla warfare and

   credited in the lineage of the United States Army Rangers.
